Assistant Retail Manager

Within the spirit of “Making People’s Dreams Come True”, this position is responsible for overseeing the Logo Stores and working cooperatively with other departments. In addition, this position provides a wide variety of support services to the Retail department of The Villages Golf & Retail Division to include responsibility for selecting and purchasing lines of products on behalf of the department. These duties are accomplished while delivering Raving Fans customer service to both internal and external customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Collect retail buying information, suggestions, feedback and requests from Golf Professionals and Facility Inventory Associates and coordinate with The Villages Golf & Retail Division’s retail plan and merchandise selection criteria.
• Identify customer preferences and forecast consumer trends.
• Evaluate supplier options according to process, quality, etc. and determine the best choices.
• Discover and purchase new products and check the quality and popularity of those already on the shelves.
• Monitor stock levels and make plans for buying within budget.
• Attend events, fairs, and exhibitions to remain up to date with the market’s trends.
• Create, distribute, and maintain The Logo Stores employee schedules.
• Assist with interviewing, hiring, training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, rewarding, coaching, and disciplining employees, and addressing and resolving complaints and problems.
• Train staff members to use the following office equipment:
  • Cash register.
  • Credit card scanner.
  • Adding machine.
  • Copier.
  • Fax machine.
  • Laminating machine.
  • Multi‐line digital telephone.
• Maintain records of sales activities and recognize and correct financial irregularities.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and friendly store environment.
• Provide information to customers.
• Assist the Logo Store Sales Associates with daily operations, as needed.
• All other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Customarily and regularly directs the work of two or more full‐time employees or the equivalent and has the authority to make decisions regarding the hiring, firing, and promotion of these direct reports.

Minimum Requirements

• Minimum of two (2) years related experience and/or training in a retail related or related role.
• Ability to consistently achieve high work standards, attention to detail and timeliness.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
• Demonstrable aptitude in effective negotiating and familiarity with market research, data analysis and forecasting techniques.
• Strong working knowledge and use of Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• This position is subjected to The Villages Vehicle Safety Program and its policies as it requires the use of personal vehicles for company business. Please refer to the Vehicle Safety Program for the policies and procedures that this position is required to follow. A Valid Driver’s License with a record acceptable to company standards is required for this position.
