Heavy Equipment Operator

Equipment Operator - Heart of Florida Landfill

We are currently seeking experienced, safety-conscious Equipment Operators to join our team at Heart of Florida Landfill . Prior landfill or waste experience is a big plus, but we're willing to train the right candidate who brings a strong work ethic and willingness to learn.

Schedule:

+ 4:00 AM - 4:30 PM (Monday-Friday)

+ 7:00 AM - 6:30 PM (Tuesday-Saturday)

+ Shifts available

Hours: 55-60 hours per week

Pay: $24-$26+ per hour DOE

Key Responsibilities

+ Operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently in landfill and railyard environments

+ Spread and compact trash using a Compactor

+ Apply daily cover using a Dozer

+ Excavate soil with an Excavator

+ Operate an Articulated Dump Truck (ADT) for material transport

+ Transport materials between loading, weighing, unloading, and disposal locations

+ Assist with general site and facility maintenance

+ Maintain awareness of personnel, traffic controls, environmental requirements, and safety policies

+ Conduct routine equipment inspections and report maintenance needs promptly

+ Support rail and landfill operations as directed by site management

Working Conditions

+ Outdoor landfill and railyard environment

+ Work near moving equipment and heavy machinery

+ Required to follow all PPE and safety requirements

+ Exposure to wet, humid, dusty, and muddy outdoor conditions

+ Physical demands include lifting up to 50 pounds repeatedly and performing duties on uneven terrain

What We're Looking For

Experience operating any or all of the following equipment is preferred. A minimum of 2 years of cumulative experience is required:

+ Bulldozer

+ Landfill Compactor

+ Articulated Dump Truck (ADT)

+ Reach Stacker / Rail King

+ Excavator

+ Motorgrader

Additional qualifications:

+ Ability to learn and safely operate site-specific equipment independently

+ Willingness to follow PPE requirements and safety protocols

+ Team-oriented mindset with flexibility to take on new responsibilities

+ Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
